Corpus was the first purely photographic series that I made that I was proud of — made of a series of 5 diptychs, this project was the culmination of my entire high-school photography education, it was a semester long project through which I examined my own emotions towards the people I loved most. A majority of the images are of my sister, both someone I love most and one of my only options to photograph during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the rest are of my ex-girlfriend, who (at the time) I had been dating for about two years. The photographs are filled with hands, offering support, and of patterns created from the human body — afraid for my loved ones’ safety during what was an exceedingly stressful time, I strove to capture their familiarity beyond just their faces. Using their bodies to evoke a somber peace, this collection is a love letter to the people I was closest to, the people who kept me sane during some of the worst years of my life.
