Bat Wing Earrings

These earrings were my second jewelry project, and the first in which I was able to solder. The learning curve for the metalworking was pretty steep, but inspired by the shape of bat-wings, I had a set idea of what I wanted to create. Using a process called marriage of metal, I inlaid copper pieces into the nickel frames I had previously cut, then soldered them together. My first attempt was less-than-admirable, but I continued to try again until they were as close to perfect as possible. I cleaned them up by sanding and polishing them, then I put a black patina on the copper parts to make them look more like bat-wings.
