This zine was inspired by research that I did on the formation of pearls, after a trip to the Natural History Museum in New York City. Taking the ideas of layering, iridescence, and water, I came up with fashion zine, painted in acrylic paints, made of a series of three outfits. I focused a lot on the colors and textures: for the former, I used a mostly cool toned, but varied palette, and I used the contrasting accent colors to add interest to both the designs and the pages themselves, and for the latter, I contrasted darker, more ruffled and textured fabrics with smooth, shiny ones. As a whole, this zine takes the idea of the oyster and pearl and transforms it into a collection of three different looks.
