Inspired by Nicolaes de Bruyn’s engraving style, with internal frames and intense details surrounding the central composition, “Homewrecker” is a 30” x 40” inch pencil drawing depicting a woman, fixing her lipstick in the mirror, while two other women sit nervously in the background. The extravagant frame mirrors the woman’s entitled attitude, and perhaps betrays a bit of her intention. Starting with composition sketches, then settling on the framed, round primary focus, this piece developed over the course of a month long effort, and culminated into a moody, sinister depiction of love and motivation.
