This poster, made for a fictional vampire movie entitled “Creatures of the Night”, was inspired by the works of Alphonse Mucha, George Wolfe Plank, and Adolfo Hohenstein, as well as the theatrical posters and advertisements of the Art Nouveau movement. During the ideation of this poster, I did a plethora of studies from these artists’ work, then narrowed my focus to create three thumbnails for the composition. Once I had chosen the final format, I sketched a more detailed version on paper before transferring it onto a digital format, where I completed this poster. In the posters characteristic of the Art Nouveau era, the focus was on the curling forms of the hair, the contrasting color schemes, and the intense amount of detail present in the work. This piece features the subject of the poster, a beautiful blonde vampire, hair sprawling through the composition, holding the body of another woman. The text emulates the gothic style of script, and the red contrasts the green in the background, acting as the second subject of the poster.
